09 Jul Cool Technology: Looking at Liquid Robotics’ Wave Glider
All over, people are exploring the ins and outs of the world, studying and learning everything they can about our world and how it works. Today, that study and exploration has extended to include the entire universe. As technology advances, our studies advance and, as a result, we get excited about where that research can take us. Sure, we spend our time in the atmosphere, but while we keep our focus up high, some folks are finding fascination in the sea below. Liquid Robotics is a company known for its Wave Gliders.
What is the Wave Glider, exactly?
These unmanned, autonomous gliders are designed to act as data receivers for those who wish to study everything and anything about the waters on Earth. Liquid Robotics’ newest wave glider, the SV3, is the first wave- and solar-propelled oceanic robot. These surfboard-like systems are deployable all over the oceanic seascape, and they collect transmittable information about the ocean, such as temperature, atmospheric conditions, wind and wave speed, and more. The new SV3 model is even more adaptable to conditions all over the world, bringing an efficient—and relatively affordable—way of studying the larger part of the world: the ocean!
So, what does this mean?
With technology always advancing, we are developing new and exciting ways to study the world around us. In the future, we will have even more capable robots and technology that will allow us to learn even more. When it comes to the advancement of our knowledge, it all starts with education. Today’s students are developing alongside all of this cool new technology, and they will be the ones to advance it further in the future. Exploring devices like the SV3 and its uses is crucial to developing the mindsets for today’s generation of students.
